主な制作シリーズについて
「Garateia project（ガラテアプロジェクト）」
My interest in the theme of androids dates back to my primary school days. At the time, I was working on a project for a school assignment that could be described as the ‘Prototype 0’ of Garateia. I was fascinated by the concept of eternal life, and intended it to serve as a medium for spiritual possession. The Garateia I am currently creating has its roots in that prototype. It is a creative series that, through various explorations and prototypes regarding the nature of humanity, continually seeks to define a new form of humankind.
私が人造人間というテーマを考えたきっかけは小学生時代に遡る。当時、Garateia（ガラテア）の０号機と呼べるものを自由研究で作っていた。永遠の命というものに興味があり、降霊術の憑代的な役割として。現在作っているガラテアはその機体をルーツとしている。これは、人間の本質に関する様々な探求や試作を通じて、新たな人類の在り方を絶えず模索し続ける創作シリーズなのだ。
「Skin シリーズ」
This series of works uses paper as its medium and focuses on the changes in the skin caused by metabolism. The paper used as material is gathered from the artist’s immediate surroundings and constitutes a collection of personal information. Although the artist utilises paper that has been discarded and shredded, she creates these works with a sense of connection to the imagery of skin metabolism, viewing the paper as something that has fallen away from her own body.
紙を素材として、新陳代謝による肌の変化に着目した作品シリーズ。材料にする紙は作者自身の回りから集めたもので個人情報の塊でもある。作者はシュレッダーにかけられたその紙を使用しているが、紙を自身の身体情報から剥がれ落ちたものとして捉え、皮膚の代謝というイメージとのつながりを感じて制作へと繋げている。
「Protesting delusions 不明な体の人々」
Hasn’t everyone, at some point, mistaken a shadow out of the corner of their eye for a person, when it was actually just a bush or a lamppost? Elements such as a human-like gait or posture seem to exude a presence that goes beyond mere silhouette, leading us to believe that what we’re seeing out of the corner of our eye is the shadow of a person, even when it’s actually something completely unrelated. This series of three-dimensional sculptures aims to capture that exquisite balance.
誰もが一度は、目尻の端に映った影を人影だと勘違いした経験があるのではないか。実際にはただの茂みや街灯だったのに。人らしい物腰や姿勢といった要素は外見のシルエット以上に存在感を放っていて、たとえ実際には全く関係のないものであっても、目尻の端に映ったものが人の影だと錯覚させてしまう。この立体創作のシリーズは、その絶妙なバランスを捉えることを目指している。
